Bild From December 9th-12th the 6th edition of 3D Stereo MEDIA, the International 3D Summit for Science, Technology Art and Business, took place in Liège, Belgium. This event consisted of the Scientific Conference IC3D, the 3D Content Financing Market 3DFM and the Professional Conference PCON. Finally, 3D Stereo MEDIA was closed by the traditional Ceremony of the Awards which were given jointly with the International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society to honor the outstanding achievement of 3D artists, scientists, and engineers.

3D Stereo MEDIA is recognized as one of the few occasions where 3D experts can meet, exchange ideas, conceive projects, and conclude deals focusing only on the topic of 3D. It aims at being the best and most complete 3D event in the world, to promote 3D across the globe, and to help the 3D community by maintaining a steady spirit and heading in all circumstances.

Its international, scientific and engineering conference (IC3D) is dedicated to the multidisciplinary topic of 3D imaging. Among the 33 papers that were accepted two were submitted by groups from Fraunhofer HHI. Oliver Schreer from the department Image Processing presented his group`s paper on "Visibility-driven Patch Group Generation" which was also chosen to be the best of all the papers that were submitted. On behalf of his co-authors Dr. Schreer accepted the Lumiere statuette at the Award Ceremony on the last day of 3DSM.

To sum it up - 3D Stereo MEDIA was indeed a perfect place to meet other 3D experts and enthusiasts from around the globe who are interested in all the different aspects, applications and forms of 3D. The IC3D covered the engineering part, at the 3D Content Financing Market (3DFM) producers with new projects for S-3D contents looking for financing were brought together with financiers and co-producers looking for investment opportunities. And the Professional Conference (PCON) provided pertinent, time-critical, hot information on all facets of 3D. Among the speakers were also our partner Sönke Kirchhof from reallifefilm international and Yulu Wang from the 3D Council in China. And for sure - the traditional award show marked a successful conclusion.
