BEYOND Festival 2016 – Future Design Thinking

In the coming decades new technologies will change our lives and the way in which we perceive them beyond our imagination. This phenomenon of the increasing impact of technology in nearly every area of our life is targeted by this year’s BEYOND- Festival, which is titled “Future Design Thinking”.

BEYOND will take place from September 28 to October 02, 2016 at the ZKM | Karlsruhe, the Schauburg and the HfG Karlsruhe.

The BEYOND-Festival offers:

  • a creative link between science, technology and arts
  • an experimental laboratory of new artistic forms and consideration of social impacts of the new technologies
  • new and critical perspectives on the imagination and reality with the observation of possible chances, risks and collateral damages of the new technologies

Kathleen Schröter of the 3IT will be moderating and curating the day that is dedicated to VR. For further information see also the website of the BEYOND- Festival.

At last year’s BEYOND 2015, the documentary film “Die Reise der Kurden zum Mond” in 3D received the award for best documentary. The entire post-production was executed by our partner reallifefilm international in Hamburg: sweetening, color correction, depth grading, sound mixing, 3D subtitling, mastering and production of 2D and 3D deliveries (DCP, Blue Ray).

Lawo Is New Partner of the 3IT

At the NAB Show in Las Vegas, the biggest broadcasting trade show worldwide, Lawo became partner of the 3IT. Professor Thomas Wiegand, head of Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute met Philipp Lawo, CEO of Lawo at his booth to sign the contract.

Philipp Lawo stated that the 3IT is “the ideal place to get in contact with industry participants, political institutions and research institutes and to present the newest video over IP technologies. Our products ensure a reliable transition into the full IP based production environment and are based on open standards e.g. SMPTE 2022-6 or VSF TR-03/04.”

On 31 August, 2016 the Lawo coorporation is going to host an event on “IP in broadcasting” at the 3IT, including speakers from Lawo and other technology partners.

Professor Thomas Wiegand added: “We are very glad to welcome Lawo as an innovative German manufacturer of the broadcasting sector.
